The Warsaw city council unanimously voted on Thursday to adopt the master plan for Pole Mokotowskie, one of Warsaw’s chief green areas and a popular meeting and leisure spot.
The plan turns out to be good news for park lovers, but bad news for Irish developer Global Partners, which has been trying to win over authorities with its plan to develop part of the area. Global Partners had planned a mixed-use development, promising in return to rejuvenate the now ruined track-and-field stadium. It’s looking bad for the developer, but it’s not like the city didn’t make things clear a year ago.
GP can still use administrative techniques to fight the city’s decision. Judging from CIJ’s earlier conversations with the developer, this is now likely to happen.
