Skanska Property has opened what it’s calling Poland’s first green office building. The news is odd, because when we spoke with the company back in April, they said the building wouldn’t be overtly sustainable. Are we witnessing the first real signs of tenant pressure for green?
In any case, the company now says Deloitte House will be able to meet LEED standards, including water use reduction features, chilled beam air conditioning, furniture made from wood and carpets made of partially recycled materials, and a projected 32 percent reduction in energy use compared to Polish norms.
Skanska Property will first get its own offices in the building accredited, and then work on the remainder of the building. Deutsche Bank will also open its first green Polish branch in the building.
