Hungary’s long-delayed EuroVegas project, in northwest along its the border with Austria and Slovakia, appears to be close to obtaining its building permit. Business daily Napi Gazdaság has reported (in Hungarian; here in German) that the Austrian environmental authorities recently approved the 335 ha project near Bezenye.
Construction on the first phase, a 24-storey luxury hotel with conference center, casino and the obligatory thermal spa is expected to start later this year. One of the world’s largest casino operators, Hard Rock International, is being named as a major investor.
Permits are one thing. But will it get financing?
